Adults Welcome Too! Primarily, I write this newsletter for adults, with the intention of calling attention to family-friendly films from our youth that are surprisingly relevant as we age, or those that I’ve (re)discovered and want to share, often because they’ve surfaced again, either on physical media or on a streaming service. Really, why should children and young teenagers get all the fun stuff?
As I note in my About page: “Every week, I search for new films and television shows that are targeted at the so-called ‘family-friendly’ audience and then, when I see something noteworthy, write about it from my perspective as a film critic for the past 20 years. So if I don’t find anything I want to write about, I won’t be cluttering up your in-box.”
This remains true. I’ve edited the About page, slightly, to wit: “I watch and research family-friendly noir films (?!) from the 40s and 50s (Concrete Falls) and family-friendly movies released in my favorite film decade (70s Rewind).” My purpose in doing this is to encourage myself to write more about oft-neglected. I hope you will find value in what I write about as well, become a subscriber, and spread the word to your friends and family members.
To repeat: I’ll still be writing about new films and television shows! Just buttressed with words about things from the past.
